Use 3 or More Designer Papers at Love to Create

A Day for Daisies are the fabulous sponsor for the new challenge this week at Love to Create. I had the pleasure of working with an image called 'Favourite Boots Ever'! Our challenge theme this week is to Use 3 or More Designer Papers - so you could make a card or indeed another papercraft project as long as you have 3 or more papers on there.
I have coloured my image with Promarkers and inked the edges with Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Ink. The edges were distressed further using a distressing tool. I have used burgandy papers from Do Crafts 'Gorjuss' range - both the recent release and one from the first set of papers. These have been distressed and layered. The Spellbinders beaded circle dies add a bit of interest to the background and I have finished with a couple of tags and some black self adhesive pearls.

666 The Number of the Beast!

My hubby is a huge Iron Maiden fan and when I saw the name of the latest challenge at Haunted Design House I knew I had to play along. But it went further down my 'to do' list as the week went on and with only a few hours to spare, here's my card for the challenge!
I have used the Beastly Paper Pack from Delicious Doodles and the Rick St Dennis image 'Amulet'. The main image is coloured using Promarkers with extra detailed added using my WH Smith blendable pencils. The image is fussy cut and mounted on black pearlescent paper. The sentiments are printed from Word and inked with Fired Brick and Black Soot.

I printed out the rams head background paper and sections from the two other papers in the pack. On the background I used my Promarkers and blew on the thick end of the pen to create a splattered effect in various colours. I've done the same on the 666 spirals. The rams head in the corner, sentiments and '666'paper behind the main sentiment have been tinted/edged with Fired Brick and Black Soot DI too. I've added some black web ribbon to finish.

The more I look at the card photo here - I wish I'd cut down the '666' sentiment a bit smaller but I didn't want to lose the font! And it's too dark here now to take another photo!

I will enter this in the following challenges:
Haunted Design House - 666 The Number of the Beasts
613 Avenue Create - #78 Anything Goes
Ditzie Digi Designs - Anything Goes
Lacy Sunshine - #36 Anything Goes
The Corrosive Challenge - #202 Colour me Happy (I love my Promarkers!!)

Here Comes the Summer at Crafting by Designs...

I can only hope that is the case! I am a bit early in writing this post, it's the beginning of June and I'm cold, it's raining and not at all seasonable weather! Surely by today we have some sunshine - the schools are almost out for the holidays and it would be awful to not have the sun!

Anyway, maybe I'll update you with a weather report at the end of this post!! This week's challenge at Crafting by Designs is themed 'Here Comes the Summer'. The challenge is sponsored by Robyns Fetish Stamps with a chance to win a prize from them, we'd love to see your summery creations!
I have made my inspiration card today using an image from The East Wind. I have coloured Ashley with Promarkers and edged the image and papers with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. The papers are from the Fancy Pants Designs 'Beach Babe' paper pad. I have die cut the mount with an x-cut die. The flourish is Die-Namics and the rolled roses are Marianne Designs. The banner and sentiment were made by hand. I have finished with some pink card candi and lots of 'Star Dust' Stickles on the surf board corner design.

I will enter this in the following challenges:

Colour Challenge at Love to Create

We have a colour challenge for you this week at Love to Create! Now, I saw the colours and thought.... oh dear, what do I do with them.... and then I somehow made them Halloweeny!!! haha
The colours are Navy, Orange, Lemon and Lime - now you can do whatever you wish with this as long as you use the colours. We are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and Dr Digi's House of Stamps.

I had the joy of working with the Skelekinz Balloon image from Bugaboo and coloured her with Promakers. My background papers are from the Bo Bunny Fright Delight paper pad - lots of orange, lime green and lemon colours on the sugar skulls. The papers I used for matting are orange and a kind of navy blue pearlescent and I've edged the card with Faded Denim Distress Ink. The sentiment is a Lily of the Valley stamp. I finished the card with lemon candi and some glossy accents to make the balloon shiny!

A couple of challenges!

Just a quick post from me with a couple of makes for some challenges!
Firstly I have finally gotten around to using the amazing 'Quoth the Raven' Rubber Stamp set from Smeared Ink! This was a prize that I won a few months back and I have used it to make a couple of ATCs. These are for a swap at the Smudged and Smeared forum and I will be using the theme 'A bunch of Poesies' from the current Quoth The Raven Challenge blog and I will be entering the challenge there.
I have used papers from Echo Park's Apothecary Emporium with ravens on candlesticks! The writing down the right side of the atc is a quote from 'The Raven' stamped in black Archival and clear embossed. The 'Quoth the Raven, Nevermore' was stamped with Versamark onto black pearlescent paper and heat embossed using white detail powder. The flowers are from my stash and the edges inked with Black Soot.

My next project is a Tag! This is for the current Ike's World Challenge theme 'Monochrome'. It's also for a tag swap at the Ike's Art Facebook group and will be winging it's way to Dubai just shortly!

I have used the 'Alice' image from Ike's Art and coloured her with promarkers and lavender Stickles. I have used purple pearlescent paper and lilac card - the card is embossed with the Darice 'Tea Party' embossing folder. The flowers are from Sweet Lilac and have been sprayed with purple Dylusions ink spray to match the monochrome look. The lace edges are from an xcut Lace border punch.

I have coloured her with Promarkers keeping her bright and bold like her name suggests. I have used papers from the Fancy Pants 'Beach Babe' paper pad and my layout is a sketch from Sunday Stamps. The sentiment is Craftwork Cards.
I am entering this in the following challenges

The East Wind Facebook Contest - Wedded Bliss

As well as hosting blog challenges, The East Wind have a fabulous group page on Facebook where you have the chance to win more TEW images by entering our Facebook Contest. The new contest starting today is themed 'Wedded Bliss'. We want to see you create a Wedding themed project using an image from The East Wind and share it with our Facebook group.

I have used the 'Flowery Bride' image for my DT inspiration card. I have coloured her with promarkers and edged the paper using Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord DI. With a wedding being such a special occasion I have made a larger 8x8 card and used some of my favourite papers - the Craftwork Cards Time Flies Collection.

The top left corner uses die cut flowers from the Time Flies kit and to make extra flowers I have used scraps of the papers with my Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations Tattered Florals Bigz die. The rolled centres are Marianne Designs Chinese Rose die cuts again from the paper scraps. I have then used Time Flies candi in the smaller flowers too. All the flowers and candi have been tinted slightly with the same Distress Inks.
The layered butterfly and paper bow are all die cuts provided in the kit as is the plaque. I have left this blank, it would be printed with the names of the happy couple and date of the wedding. The small butterflies have been coated with glossy accents and there is Star Dust stickles on the flower centres and butterfly wings (difficult to see).

I look forward to seeing your wedding creations!

Left of Center 'Use Metal' with Rick St Dennis

Today is the very last fortnightly challenge at Left of Center.... watch this space!!! The theme for this fortnight is 'Use Metal' and we are delighted to be sponsored by Rick St Dennis.

I managed to enter last month's new challenge on the Sparkle and Glitter with Rick blog from Rick St Dennis and as a reward for doing so, had the joy of receiving the You're A Winner - Nyner the Little Monster image to use for this month's part of the Steampunk Challenge. So this is a bit of a double post!

I had a blast colouring up this little monster using my Promarkers and then added Vintage Photo, Mowed Lawn and Black Soot distress inks to the background and edges of the image.
I have used the Do Crafts Chronology papers for the background of the card and edged them with more Black Soot and Vintage Photo DIs. The black gears are Tim Holtz and the card is finished with black sticky pearls. The metal element to the card - although it could be a LOC entry! - is a brad in the bottom right corner. This says 'happy' on it and I have a few of these with different words that have been in my stash for a while - if anyone knows who made it, please let me know!!

I will enter this in the following challenges -
Sparkle and Glitter With Rick - Steampunk Progressive Challenge
A Step in the Dark - #4 Anything Goes
Time4Scrap - #41 Anything Goes

My background paper is from the Echo Park Apothecary Emporium pad with some purple core'dinations embossed with the Swiss Dots folder. The web is a Spellbinders die and the Graveyard die is a Time Holtx for Sizzix Alterations On The Edge Bigz die. The bats I had in my stash.

Favourite Holiday Challenge, Blog Hop & Giveaway

Welcome to my DT post for Crafting by Designs! We have a fabulous treat, this is a challenge and Blog Hop in one event! We really hope you will join us - why not pop over to the Crafting by Designs blog for the rules and some DT inspiration and then pop back here to me for the hop!

Here is the blog roll and if you leave and comment with your email address on all the participating blogs, you could win a prize, even if you dont enter a project in the 'Favourite Holiday' challenge.

Here's the line up of the blogs to visit:
Sharon - Scrap Happy

The blog hop and challenge are sponsored this week by Fred She Said, Doodle Pantry and Di's Digi Stamps.

Now for my project! You might have realised from some of my previous Crafting by Designs creations, I love my darker crafting and Halloween as a holiday gives lots of scope for that! So this is the holiday I have chosen to blog today.

I have used 'Emma the Cat' with sentiment from Fred She Said and used papers from Echo Park's Chillingsworth Manor pad. I used the 'perforation' setting on my paper trimmer to separate the sentiment from the image and layered everything with black pearlescent paper. The image is coloured with promarkers and the card edged with Mowed Lawn and Black Soot DI. The card is finished with my favourite - Card Candi!
Now, I had hoped to make another couple of Halloween projects to share but time has gotten away from me, so I thought I would share a few of my Halloween themed cards made for Crafting By Designs over the last year or so. I hope you like them!

This is an image from Ike's Art - I love the black and red for Halloween too, gives it a scarier feel than the orange... of course the dripping blood helps too!

This was one of my first Halloweeny themed cards for Crafting by Designs and uses a Lacy Sunshine image.

Although this is a birthday card, I love the black and purple has a Halloween colour palette and the spiderwebs finish it off nicely!

This card was for the Crafting by Designs Things With Wings Challenge and uses an image from Sami Stamps.

Well, thank you so much for visiting my blog today! I hope you love the Halloween vibe here and I hope you will leave a comment below for a chance to win at the end of the hop! Make sure you do the same for the other blogs on the list and enter a project for more chances to win!

I would also love to send one of you my Fred She Said card from today and a few Halloween themed crafty things! So if you'd like to win that, mention it in your comment!

Next up is Lisa - Paper Bliss!

Happy Holiday Hop!!

A Touch of Purple for A Step in the Dark

Anyone who follows my blog will know that I currently run the Left of Center Creative Challenges blog where we love our alternative crafting although we also welcome mainstream projects. Well, recently a brand new, dark side, alternative crafting challenge began - A Step in the Dark and the work there has been amazing, some stunning projects from the team, including Lisa Tyrell from LOC! Unfortunately time got away from me and I completely missed out on joining in the first challenge, so today sees my second entry for their second challenge!
I have used a fabulous image from The East Wind, Lucy Loo 'Braided Side' - who happen to be sponsoring A Step in the Dark this fortnight. I have coloured her with promarkers and die cut her with a Spellbinders Deckled Rectangle. Distress inks in Dusty Concord and Black Soot are used on the edges of all the papers. The papers are from Kaisercraft's 13th Hour paper pad. I have added the name 'Emma' using the Clarity Stamps Letterbox kit with black Archival ink and Dusty Concord Distress ink to colour.
Rather than making a card, this is actually a 6x6 chipboard wall hanging. I've added black organza ribbon for hanging it. The spider web corners are Cheery Lynn dies and to finish I coated the whole thing in Sparkle Mod Podge.

I will enter this in the following challenges:
A Step in the Dark - Challenge #2 Use Purple/AG
My Craft Creations - Anything Goes
The Crafty Bloggers Network - June Challenge Bingo (Column A)
Digi Makeover Challenge - #143 Anything Goes
