Smeared and Smudged August Member Blog Hop

HI!!! This is my first time playing along with the Smeared and Smudged member Blog Hop. This month is Anything Goes and I'm so excited to see what everyone has made! I'm afraid my offering is not great! I have a minor printer issue so had to use an image that I already had printed and with a lack of time on my side I have made a birthday card.

I have used a Delicious Doodles Zombie Pirate image and coloured only the bandana and neck tie using red and grey promarkers. This was given some black soot distress ink around the edges and matted onto red and black card. I used a die to cut some flourishes for the card and used the outer remains as a stencil to apply more black soot ink to the grey background paper.

The card is finished with black seam binding, sentiment, a couple of flourishes and glossy accents on his missing eye socket!

Hopefully I will be more organised for the next hop!! Speaking of hop, you should have come to me from Shell and your next stop is Jane. Hop on over to Terra at the Smeared and Smudged blog to start at the beginning if you have just jumped in here!

Here is the full blog roll for your convenience - please enjoy your day and leave some love at each stop!

Dilly Beans Little Monsters Challenge!

Yet another post from me today, but this is by the skin of my teeth! The Challenge over at Dilly Beans is titled Little Monsters and closes in 20 minutes! So I wont hang around.

This is a Dilly Beans image which is framed, but I cut him out of his frame to fit the card - printed him a bit too big and no time to reprint! Ooops! I have used Echo Park designer Halloween themed papers plus orange and purple pearlescent paper for the background.

I have coloured the skellie with promarkers in greys, lilac and purple and a red heart. The card is finished with some black and purple seam binding and some bling! I coloured a few pin heads to match too.

thanks for looking!

Delicious Doodles Christmas in August Challenge

I just had to join in this challenge! I love the Delicious Doodles image 'An Emo Christmas' and just had to use it to create a card for the Delicious Doodles challenge this week. Luckily, just in time today, the postman delivered me a packet full of gorgeous red and green promarkers so they went to good use! Safe to say, this card did not turn out the way i expected - I had been thinking purples, greys and blacks but this has ended up quite a traditional Christmas card in the end! The papers used are from Hot Off the Press with some Anita's sticky ribbon and a Craftwork Cards sentiment.

Quite a clean and simple card from me today, hope you like it.

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge #25 - Bling and Sparkly Things

Time for a new weekly challenge over at the Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog. This week the theme is Bling and Sparkly things and we are sponsored by the fabulous Dr Digi.

I have had the pleasure of working with a comincal image called 'Headless' and decided to turn it into a good luck card!

I have coloured the image using promarkers and added Frosted Lace Stickles for the white bits and Midnight Black Stickles on his buttons. Some Platinum Stickles also on the buckles of his shoes. I have used some grey and white papers, black glitter paper and strips of red diamantes down the side.

The sentiment on the front is from Craftwork Cards and I have printed out a sentiment for the inside to link up the image!

For the most part I really, really, dislike the whole 'Keep Calm...' line of sayings and have never, ever used one on a project but for some reason, this is the comment that came to me while I was looking at the image! I have matted it onto more of the glitter paper and then the background paper on the inside.

Thanks for looking, why not some on over to the Crafter's Cafe and show us your sparkly, blingy projects!

Tsunami Rose Designs Challenge #29 - Colour Inspiration

Morning Folks! Its time for another challenge at Tsunami Rose Designs and this week it is a Purple and White Colour Challenge. We are using the TRD Monochrome Journal Kit in purple for this week but you can use anything you like! There is a twist to this in that we were asked to make an Easel Card this week!

I misread and didn't do an easel - so the pictures you are about to see started life as a 5x7 card and then got adapted onto an elegant sqaure to make an easel!

I used printable ephemera and one of the journal papers as a background adding a sentiment, seam binding bow and purple head pins. I used a second journal page and white paper with my Tim Holtz tattered floral die along with Dusty Concord Distress Ink to create a layered flower for the card.

I added more ephemera and card candi to the base of the card with another sentiment inked with Dusty Concord again.

Some glitter finishes the flower and some purple self adhesive diamantes finish the card.

Thanks for looking - hope you like! Please join us for this week's challenge - here are all the links you need!

Wicked Wednesday... almost!

Hi folks, been a busy few days getting the kids all back to school and my wee one ready for his first day at nursery tomorrow! Trying to get him excited, I'm sure he'll be fine, I'm looking forward to having time with just me and the youngest! Anyway, today I have an ATC to show you. The title for the Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge this week is Broomsticks and Black Cats which I have very loosely translated into a Halloween Theme - cos I loves Halloween!! I have used a witch image on my ATC - I am told that she does have a broomstick and black cat but that neither were present for the portrait!

I have used My Mind's Eye designer papers from the Mischievious 6x6 paper pad, fussing cutting some pumpkins to layer up beside the witch's feet. I have stamped 'Boo' on some 'Trick or Treat' orange card Candi from Craftwork Cards and added stickles in Midnight Black and Stardust to the hats. There's also some Glossy Accents for the eyes.

I am entering this ATC into the following challenges -
Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge - Broomsticks and Black Cats
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
The Pink Elephant Challenge - Anything But a Card
The Crafty Bloggers Network - Favourite Things (Halloween)
Delightful Challenges - Anything But a Card

I have made a 6x6 card and added some embellishments by using seam binding ribbon in black and dusky pink, some paper roses and pins. The sentiment is also Tsunami Rose. The background paper and bingo card are from the monochrome kit. I also added a metal corner and some black die cut tape.

I hope you will join us for this week's challenge - best of luck!

Smudgefest Finale - Synonymous Sunday

Wow! What a week - a creation each day and this is the last for the Smudgefest 2013 challenges over at Smudgy Antics. And as a special treat for the last day, we were all provided with a 'Ghoulipop' digi stamp to use on our finale project - anything goes but you have to use the provided image.

I printed out a page full of pops in different sizes and coloured them in different lollipop flavour/colours without really knowing what I was going to do with them! In the end I decided on a halloween canvas that we can hang every year... or maybe it will just be a permanent fixture!

I painted a 20cm squared canvas with red/orange acrylic paint and my 3yo decided that he wanted some green on it, so I let him do some random green painting! I then attached the Kaisercraft purple spotty and newsprint paper scraps from yesterdays project randomly using Mod Podge. The paint wasn't quite dry so everything has an eery green glow about it! I was concerned but I think I like it that way!

I stuck on a scrap of old black lace, some black tulle and a bit of crochet lace along with a metal corner embellishment.

The 'Happy Halloween' is a sizzix embossing folder on black pearlescent paper with some 'interference green' Perfect Pearls over the top after it was coated in versamark ink.

I will also enter this into the current Left of Centre Challenge - Use metal/LOC.
I have loved this week....am now considering 31 days of Halloween... watch this space!

Sketchy Saturday at Smudgefest!

Well, If you don't know by now that its Smudgefest, then I don't know where you have been all week! Check out the details at the Smudgy Antics Blog for more info. Today is the penultimate challenge and it is based on a sketch.

I personally do not mind a sketch challenge, but I do tend to take it very literally and find it hard to change it up. This card is no exception. I have followed the sketch pretty much to the letter with the addition only of a wee embellishment to the bottom left corner and a sentiment.

Here is the sketch:-

And here is my take on it:-

I have used my favourite Goth Fairy from Smeared Ink as the centre peice and didn't bother with layering her, choosing instead to fussy cut and have her on raised glue dots for dimension. I did move the vertical line from the right to the left of center (see what I did there? I will enter this card in the current Left of Center Challenge!!!)

I have used papers from the Kasiercraft 13th Hour 6.5x6.5 paper pack, some black seam binding, flowers, pins and a Craftwork Cards sentiment to finish.

Entering this in the following challenges -
Smudgy Antics - Smudgefest Day 6
Left of Center - Left of Center theme (although, technically, the pins are metal!)
Wags and Whiskers - Fairytale/Fantasy
Sister Act Card Challenge - #19 Anything Goes
Inspire me Fridays - Anything Goes

Flowing Friday at Smudgefest

Hi everyone! I have gone with some more experimenting today! The challenge for Flowing Friday for Smudgefest at the Smudgy Antics blog is to "Create a project using a flowing medium. Some examples could be watercolor, liquid ink, liquid glues, thinned out acrylics, etc.... use your imagination and let the juices flow!" I spent the morning in Costco and the afternoon in a crafty shop trying to get my head round this one and ended up having a go at diluting some acrylic paints!

I dug out watercolour paper and dripped some burgandy and black flowing acrylic paint onto it. Once that was dry, I sat it upright and sprayed LOTS of Tattered Angels Fully Purple Glimmer Mist to the top of the paper to allow it to also 'flow' down the page. I have attached this to a 6x6 chipboard square to make a wall hanging - here is the background for a closer look -

Sorry the photos are quite dark tonight - no natural light since its 9pm and the nights are fair drawing in!

For the stamped image I have used the freebie that was given to all those blogs who hopped for the Skull Appreciation Day this year - a sugar skull with roses. I've printed it quite big, fussy cut it and coloured with promarkers. I added some 'flowing' fringing along the bottom of the peice to keep it flowy! I've also used seam binding ribbon in black and purple, matching mulberry flowers and some black bling.

The 'eyes' on the skull were covered with midnight black Stickles for an extra pop!

I'm reasonably happy with this tonight, I might have printed the digi smaller but with a lack of time I couldn't change it. It's currently hanging on the wall in conservatory, I think I might leave it there!

Thanks for looking!

Smudgefest Day 4 - Twisted Thursday

Oh my, this week is going in quickly! Glad my mojo is keeping up - or at least trying to!
The brief for Day 4 at Smudgefest over on the Smudgy Antics blog is an ATC challenge - create an ATC, using at least one Smeared Ink image, with a 'twist'!

I have been mulling over this all day - with the time differences, the challenge goes live for me at 8am so I have most of the day to think about it! In the end, I took a cage to the bottom of the garden to see what I could catch!

The cage was white, I have coloured it with a black Sharpie and used a glue pen to attach some sparkly embossing powder to give the cage a shimmer. I attached it to purple pearl card and put a brad through the top of the cage to adhere it to the ATC and allow it to 'twist' open.

The background for the atc itself is black pearl paper on a card base that has been coated with clear rock candy distress paint and some Perfect Pearls sprinkled over the paint while wet. Think the goth fairy I caught also got stuck in the paint!

The goth fairy was coloured using promarkers and sparkly embossing powder attached to her wings and hair using the glue pen and heat gun. I have been very short on time today and I was trying to experiment a bit with the background, I will work more on this idea and see how it progresses! I think the idea is there, but perhaps the execution could have been better.... watch this space.

Dilly Beans Cute and Creepy Challenge

Hi folks! Just a quick post from me this afternoon again at the tail end of this week's Dilly Beans Challenge. The theme this week is 'Cute and Creepy' and I have used a zombie girl image that I've coloured with promarkers. I have added Star Dust Stickles to the skull's eyes and Glossy Accents to the girl's 'broken' eye!

The background is an orange pearlescent paper with patterned papers from a K&Co Halloween paper pack. I have also used a sketch for this card from The House That Stamps Built and will be entering the card in that challenge too.

Wicked Wednesday at Smudgefest!

Hi folks.... yes, I'm sorry, yet another post from me today! That's a busy Wednesday for you!
However, this is day three of Smudgefest and if you're not sure what I'm talking about, scroll down for my day one and two posts or pop over to Smudgy Antics for a look at the fabulous inspiration from their DT and the other entrants. There are prizes every day and a grand prize which you're only eligible for if you enter all seven challenges!

Today's brief - Wicked Wednesday - is a colour challenge and as normal you need to use a Smeared Ink stamp somewhere on your project. Here is the wicked colour scheme -

And here is my card. I'm afraid it's not very 'wicked' but I have used all the colours (i think!) and one of the Smeared Ink Goth Fairies for the front of it. I haven't put a sentiment on here, I'll wait and do that when I send the card. The papers used are free papers from Pixel Scrapper matted onto black pearlescent paper and layered up on a 6x6 card base.

I have finished the card with some black seam binding and a bow using black and sea peacock ribbon with some mulberry paper flowers and a black fancy flower. The blue dots are shiny and self adhesive from the bottom of my stash.

Not very wicked but something a bit menacing about that fairy! Also, my colouring is not very good today - need to invest in better paper for colouring, adding that to my shopping list now!

I will enter this card into the following challenges -
Smudgy Antics - Smudgefest Day 3
Smudgy Antics - Use Fussy Cutting
Left of Centre - LOC theme
Through the Craftroom Door - Anything Goes
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
Digi Sketch Challenge - Anything Goes

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge #23 Furry Friends &/or Friendship

Its time for another contribution from myself to the Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog. This week the challenge is entitled Furry Friends and/or Friendship. I'm not particularly fond of animals in general and not really a pet person so thought I would go with friendship rather than furry friends.

The sponsor for this week's challenge is Lacy Sunshine and I have chosen a Lizabeth image with a heart shaped padlock. I wrote and cutout the sentiment by hand and coloured the image using promarkers and Platinum Stickles to accent.

The background uses Tattered Angels mica mists and a Sissix damask letterpress plate that I inked and used like a stamp to get a patchy image on the paper. I've used purple and black mulberry paper, some bling and seam binding ribbon to finish.

Why not check out the Crafter's Cafe to see what the rest of the team have to offer and show us what you can do!

I will be entering this card into the following challenges -
Through the Craftroom Door - Anything Goes
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
Timeless Tuesday - Backgrounds

Tsunami Rose Designs Challenge #27 - Ribbons, Buttons and Lace.

Well, Daisy of Tsunami Rose is back from her holidays and birthday celebrations and is chock full of ideas and inspiration just desperate to show us! This month we will be showing you the fabulous Monochrome Journal kit which comes in eight different colour ways - you can use the single colour alone or mix and match the different elements from each kit. Either way, i'm sure you will love this!

This week I have a card to show you using papers and ephemera from the Monochrome in Black.
The title of this week's challenge is - Ribbons, Buttons and Lace and I have used all of those elements here.

I have distressed a journal page and used that on the base of the card. Added black lace, buttons and star dust stickles. The tag is made from a section of another journal page with some more lace and bling, this was also distressed around the edges with some Black Soot distress ink added to it.

The sentiment has been glittered with some of the red pearlescent paper behind it. A couple of burgandy ribbons finish the card.

Here are all the links you need for Tsunami Rose, I hope you'll stop by and enter this week's challenge!

Terrifying Tuesday at Smudgefest

Well, its day two of the annual Smudgefest at Smudgy Antics and the theme for today is Terrifying Tuesday - choose the scariest Smeared Ink image and create!

So I dont have a lot of Smeared Ink images so I have spent ages today on the Smeared Ink site and finally chose a scary image - Defrosting Skullman Snowman!

This is the image of a snowman defrosting and a skeleton emerging from that melting snow... reminds me very much of the Frosty the Snowman Christmas song... but not in a good way! The very thought that the snowman at the bottom of your garden could come to life and come to get you is pretty terrifying!... So I made a creepy Christmas Card from it!

I printed some of the lyrics - 'He was made of snow but the children know how he came to life one day' - on repeat and printed them out, used Old Paper distress ink to colour it and used it behind the image along with some green damask paper from DoCrafts Gorjuss range. I coloured the image with promarkers, mainly the cool greys with some orange/browns for the carrot and branches.

The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and I finished the image with some Frosted Lace Stickles for the snow and Midnight Black for the coal buttons.

I will enter this card into the following challenges -
Smudgy Antics - Smudgefest Day 2
Smudgy Antics - Use Fussy Cutting
Left of Centre - LOC theme
Crafting By Designs - Anything Goes
The Hobby House - Christmas
Through the Craftroom Door - Anything Goes

Smudgefest 2013!

I am excited to be joining in with this year's Smudgefest over at Smudgy Antics. The idea being that a new challenge will be posted each day this week, with daily winners and a grand prize at the end if you manage all seven challenges - so here is number one!

Manic Monday - the brief is to create a bi-polar project that showcases two opposites, and we need to use a Smeared Ink image somewhere on the project.

I have made a double sided door hanger with fairy digi stamps and depending on your mood we can have good fairy or not-so-good fairy!

I have used background papers from Kanban and faux beading on both sides. My wicked fairy is Karina a Smeared Ink digi from the Goth Fairies collection and she has been coloured with a range of purple and cool grey promarkers.

This fairy godmother type is a Rick St Dennis image which was one of his freebies a couple of months ago - check out his blog and shop for more info. I kept the colour scheme going here with lilacs and purples for the fairy and lavender beading and ribbon. Both sentiments were printed from the pc.

My only concern is that due to time differences (its 1am here!) I am photographing these projects at night for this week - I just hope they turn out ok!

I will be entering this project into the following challenges -
Smudgefest - Manic Monday
Smudgy Antics - Use Fussy Cutting
Left of Centre - LOC theme
Crafting By Designs - Anything Goes

PunkyouGirl Challenge - Dark Humour

Its time for a new challenge over at PunkyouGirl! Can you believe we are into August already!!! Time flies when you are having fun that's for sure!

This month we are delighted to be sponsored by Teri at Delicious Doodles - her designs are fabulous, please stop by and take a look at the gorgeous digis available. I had the privilege of working with 'Cruel Cruella' Teri's take on Cruella deVille from 101 Dalmations and came up with this black and white spotty card.

I used some spotty paper from Craftwork Cards and black and white spotted satin ribbon from MeiFlower. I printed the sentiment on Word and some black and white card for layering. I have only minimally coloured the image - some grey promarkers on her hair and a few of the skin tone/accent colours on her face and arms and of course some poppy red for her lips.

I hope you like my project, please pop over to the Challenge and show us your Humerous Dark Side!

Dilly Beans Friday Challenge - Make a Tag

Well, here I am, at the tail end of the challenge again with my Dilly Beans Tag.

I have used image #431 Anna Framed but fussy cut her and removed some of the frame so her hair flows freely! I've coloured her with Promarkers and highlighted her hair with Platinum Stickles. I've ended up with a chocolate and marshmallow type colour scheme - must be due to my being on a diet!!!

I've used brown and pink papers and the sentiment, flowers and candi are all from an old Craftwork Cards goody bag. The sentiment reads 'The preservatives in chocolate make you look younger'!!
