Memorial Hop for Lily Chilvers of The Octopode Factory

I recently started working for Cancer Research UK as the manager of one of their retail stores, focused on selling donated goods to help pay for research into over 200 types of cancer. We recently lost my aunt after a gruelling battle against Breast Cancer which metastasised into her bones. Two of my other aunts and my brother have all battled one form or other of this devastating disease.

And then we lost Lily. A wonderful artist, beautiful person inside and out. A great light has gone out.
The plan was for this hop to remember her and her art and pay tribute to that light. I regretfully haven't been able to make a new project for this hop, with the job and school holidays, it's just been crazy and time slipped away... as it so often does.
Here are a few projects that I have made in the past with some of her images.
The blog list is further down the post. I hope you enjoy this hop.

I love David Bowie and being able to get him in digi format as Jarrod is amazing!

I love the other movie references that Lily created too -

Thank you for your wonderful art Lily, Rest in Peace.

Anything Goes in April at Crafting By Designs

Our brand new Anything Goes Challenge is starting this morning at Crafting By Designs and we have some fabulous sponsors for you this month!
I have used the amazing Beetlejuice image from The Octopode Factory and coloured him with Promarkers. I've fussy cut him and kept the sentiment attached. My DP is from Echo Park's Chillingsworth Manor. The die cuts are from my Cameo and the spiderweb is a Cheery Lynn die.

Anything But a Card Challenge at Crafting by Designs

We have a fabulous challenge at Crafting by Designs this week - I'm hosting and my theme of choice is 'Anything but a Card'! We have the amazing Octopode Factory as a sponsor and I have used the Jareth image! Jareth is the Goblin King from The Labyrinth movie, played by David Bowie! One of my very favourite movies from when I was a kid.
I have made an art journal page using the image which was printed out quite large and coloured with Promarkers. I coloured the  background of my page with turquoise, purple and orange Dylusions sprays. I used water in a spray through a spotty stencil and then modelling paste through a Dutch Doobadoo Star Stencil.
I sprayed some more turquoise Dylusions and once dry used my white Uniball Signo pen to draw around the stars. The black stamping is a Visible Image stamp - 'Ripped Fishnets' - with a Ranger Black Archival ink pad.
The wording are quotes from the movie in a free (for personal use) font from Dafont.com called 'Bleeding Cowboys'. I've printed them onto white pearlescent paper - the larger quote is mounted onto a spellbinders Fleur De Lis square coloured with Dylusions.
The final touch before attaching the image and quotes is some Turquoise Sparkle Medium from Imagination Crafts through a chevron stencil.

Thanks for looking! I hope you'll join in this challenge and create something... just not a card!

Birthday Challenge at Crafting by Designs

Please excuse the super quick post from me today - my youngest is poorly! I'm scheduling this Tuesday evening while he naps, I think it may be a long night.

Anyways, while he rests, I've made a card using Whimsical Going Somewhere Girl AlishBA from The Octopode Factory. I love Lily's images and we are delighted to be sponsored by her this week at Crafting By Designs - why not show us your birthday creations to be in with a chance of winning some gorgeous Octopodes of your own.

I have used a Halloween paper pad, Oct 31 by Fancy Pants Designs to create this card. It's layered up with black pearlescent paper on a black 6x6" card base. I've coloured the image as always with Promarkers and matched the papers to the turquoise and purple colours of the image. The sentiment is Craftwork Cards as is the purple Candi corners. I've finished with a black seam binding bow, rolled roses and black pins.

Thanks for looking, I hope you'll join us this week at Crafting by Designs.

Octopode Factory Challenge - Halloween in July

Wow, it's still sunny and hot! Something we are definitely not used to in Scotland!! Lots of red lobster like people walking about the town today - I'm peeling so quite so red now! hahaha

Its been a great week for me, my favourite band played an acoustic set in Glasgow last night and my sister, best friend and myself all went along. They played an astounding set and like proper groupies, we hung about afterwards for autographs! I've been a fan of Terrorvision for nearly 20 years and finally got a photo with the lead singer last night - my inner 14year old was jumping for joy, she had to be shut up with an ice cream at mcdonalds afterward! Just for the sheer heck of it - here's the photo!

Me grinning like a loony with Tony Wright of Terrorvision!
Anyway, onto the real reason for today's post - its Halloween in July over at the Octopode Factory and I'm jumping in at the last minute with this card using Lily's Sally image from the Nightmare Before Christmas. The patterned papers are free from Pixel Scrappers - they should be red but there was a problem with my printer ink so they came out orange - perfect for this card! I've matter and layered with orange and black pearlescent papers, added a hand written sentiment, seam binding ribbon and black sticky pearls.

The image is coloured with promarkers and available at the Octopode Factory Etsy shop.

I'm entering into the following challenges -

The Octopode Factory - Halloween in July
Haunted Design House - Freaker's Free For All
Crafting by Designs - Anything Goes
Crafts and Me Challenge - Anything Goes
Tuesday Throwdown - Anything Goes
Craft-Dee Bows - Anything Goes with a bow!

PunkyouGirl Halfway Reminder

Hey everyone! This is your halfway reminder for this month's PunkyouGirl Challenge!

We are doing 'Creepmas' in July and are sponsored by the fabulous Octopode Factory and I have created a 'Creepmas Card' using Lily's 'Sugar Plum Fairy' image.

I have used a black and silver foiled snowflake paper from Craftwork Cards with banner and sentiment from them also. The Green card is a pearlescent finish card and the green striped paper is from Do Crafts Gorjuss Girls range. I've added lots of Midnight Black Stickles and black adhesive bling!

I decided to zombify the 'fairy' and coloured her with grey promarkers for the skin with a hint of green. Purple toned hair and green outfit - all using promarkers. Some star dust stickles on her crown to finish.

I am entering this card into the following challenges -
Haunted Design House - Freaker's Free for All
My Craft Creations - Anything Goes
Sassy Studio Designs - Christmas in July
Inky Impressions Challenge - Christmas in July
