Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge #94 - Christmas In July

Can you believe its almost August!!!? Lots of posts due from me in the next few weeks all scheduled to publish as I will be doing lots of family stuff with some of hubby's folks from America coming to visit. But first, a little ATC from me!

Been a while since I've made one and I've had the Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge on my to do list for weeks now but this is the first I have gotten that list short enough to have a play.

I have used some old Hot Off The Press Christmas papers and brads with a digi stamp from The Octopode Factory. This is the Sugarplum Fairy, you may have seen her here before, and I have zombified her yet again! Loving the red elf shoes! I have put a 'Santa hat' brad through her head where her fairy crown usually sits and finished the ATC with a red organza ribbon and sentiment that also came with the HOTP papers.

I will be entering this is the following challenges too -
Wicked Wednesday - Christmas in July
Smudgy Antics - Use Fussy Cutting
ART - #7 Anything Goes
Simply Create Too - Anything But A Card
Left of Centre - Christmas/Creepmas in July
Crafting By Designs - Christmas in July
Creative Corner Challenges - Christmas in July
Polkadoodles - Christmas in July

My Spidey Sense is tingling!

Yes, Its a second blog post from me today, but I just had to get these two cards made and posted in time for their challenges! I have had these two cards on my 'to do' list literally for weeks - they are monthly challenges, so have been on the list nearly a month!!!

Without further a do, here is the first! Challenge #6 over at the Movie Magic Monthly blog is all about Marvel and the brief being to make a project with a Marvel Action Hero on it. We are all big Marvel fans in this house - hard not to be with 3 boys - so I knew right away I would make a card for my youngest who wil be 2 in a few months. I have used an image from the back of my other young son's Spiderman colouring book and a Sizzix Halloween embossing folder for the web - I coloured the inside of the folder with a blue dye ink pad before running it through the cuttlebug for the effect shown. I finished the card with his name on some red card candi, a number 2 die cut and some birthday ribbon.

This card will be entered into the following challenges -
Movie Magic Monthly - Marvel Action Hero
My Craft Creations - Die Cut Shapes (number)
Here Come the Boys - Anything Goes for man/boy

My second card here is for the Cards Galore Challenge for July entitled 'Copy That'. I have been inspired by Isobel Hunter's card and used the same layout but have used a Craftwork Cards chandelier stamp and sentiment. I have added two black seam binding bows instead of a flower and white bow.

I will enter this card into the following challenges -
Cards Galore Challenge - Copy That
Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes Birthday Celebration

Another Dilly Beans Glttery Card

Just a quick post from me today with a card using the Dilly Beans image #565 Sally Framed.
I've coloured her using my Promarkers and some Purple Stickles in the hair and Star Dust Stickles in her zombie eyes! I've used a white card base, black pearlescent paper, silver glittered paper and some black and white striped Gorjuss paper. For extra bling, I have used my trusty Poundland adhesive swirls! I finished the card with a seam binding bow and crystal head pins.

This is my second entry into this week's Dilly Beans Challenge - Glitter & Jewels.
Also entering into - Creative Creations - #15 anything goes and Through the CraftRoom Door - anything goes.

Crafter's Cafe Challenge #21 Anything Goes

It's time for a new challenge over at the Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog and following the theme for the whole of July, we are looking at Anything Goes yet again. This week we are sponsored by Creative Bug Digis and I had the pleasure of working with some fabulous images.

My card this week has a very autumnal feel to it and its purely accidental! I coloured my image and then found papers to match which created this -

The papers and elements are all from an older paper stack from Hot Off the Press - it had a section for each of the four seasons and I just loved how the autumn papers worked with my coloured digi. I fussy cut out the leaves from a paper and layered them up with paper ribbon and lettering panels. The 'thankful' sentiment is also from the stack.

She's not the best colouring i've done but I'm still quite new to colouring and working with digis so I'm pleased with the result.

I hope you will join us at the Crafter's Cafe and show us your work, you never know, you might be a winner!

Pile's of Bones!

A post came up on my blog feed a few weeks ago with a fabulous 'Pile o bones' background paper and I knew I had to have it! It was a paper from Teri at Delicious Doodles and I'm so glad I bought it as this week's challenge with Delicious Doodles is 'Black on Black' - a take on the 'white on white' that we often see. So here's my card for the challenge -

I've used the 'Pile O Bones' paper and their Zombie Pirate and I've not actually done any colouring with these images at all. I fussy cut the pirate and mounted him on pearlescent black paper and then a printed black/grey damask (free from Pixel Scrappers). I re-purposed some black netting from a dress that my daughter got ripped and - in honour of the current challenge at Smudgy Antics - I stapled the tulle on the image after colouring the staples black with a promarker! I've also used a pair of metal corner embellishments which have been coloured black as well.

I am entering this card into the following challenges -
Delicious Doodles - Black on Black
Smudgy Antics - use metal
Creative Creations - #15 anything goes
Here Come the Boys - anything for men/boys
Through the CraftRoom Door - anything goes
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes/optional twist

Tsunami Rose Designs - High Flown

Morning folks, a quick post from me this morning for Tsunami Rose Designs. I've used a gorgeous 8.5x11" paper called High Flown and a peice of printable ephemera to create a 'Congratulations' card.

 8.5x11 Printable Scrapbook Paper- "HIgh-Flown"

I've used a C5 card covered with black pearlescent paper and cut the TRD paper into two sections to mat and layer. The smaller section I used my Tim Holtz distress tool to age the paper edges and added a seam binding ribbon and bow, some bling and a stamped 'Congratulations' along the bottom. I've also added a length of lace ribbon down the left edge of the card.

I will enter this card into the following challenges -

Simply Betty Good Vs Evil Facebook Challenge!

It's a new month over at the Simply Betty Stamps blog and they have a new Facebook Fan Page Challenge set up. This month we had a choice of free digis - both are mermaids: one good, one evil!.... I chose evil.
Her name is Spika and she is 'Bad to the Gills'.

I've kept my card simple this month, my favourite colours - black and purple - and some embossing.
I've used a damask embossing folder with a twist - there are skulls instead of flowers! I've used the deckled blade for my trimmer and layered up with black, purple and white pearlescent papers.

For finishing touches, i've added a seambinding bow in black and purple and some black pearlescent card candi. My image is coloured with promarkers and some black stickles.

As well as the Simply Betty Challenge I'll also be entering this into the following -
Crafting by Designs - Anything Goes.
Craft-Dee Bowz - Anything Goes with a bow.

Happy Sunday morning everyone! We're all off on a day trip today so just a quick post from me with my first entry for this week's Dilly Beans Challenge which is entitled 'Glitter and Jewels'.

I have used Dilly Beans image #418 Lulu Framed and coloured her with a range of purple shade promarkers.... and then I added Purple Stickles to her amazing hair! I have used a sketch from A.R.T. Card Challenges and will enter her into this challenge as well.

The red and black striped paper was a freebie from Pixel Scrapper and i've used black and purple pearlescent papers for matting. The sentiment and black card candi are from Craftwork Cards

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend, thanks for popping by!

New Baby Boy Card

Did I mention before how hot it is!? Well, yeah, its still pretty hot! The kids have been in the pool all afternoon, we had some visitors and then an early dinner which has all resulted in my thinking that it must be a lot later than it is and therefore surely its bedtime!!! I guess I can dream!

Well, my visitors this afternoon were a friend of ours with his partner and new baby boy, Ethan. He is so cute and has a yummy fluffy head!!! Tiny toes and just stunning babyness about him! So, of course, a card had to be made and I decided to have a go at paper peicing an image since I dont have a selection of blue promarkers yet!

Here is the result - I think I might quite like paper peicing now! I put the hat on 3d foam to give a 3d effect and the skin has been coloured with promarkers. The papers I've used for the image and the card are from an old stack by Hot Off the Press. The image is from Lili of the Valley.

I used a card sketch but when I went to look for it, the challenge is over and I was too late! I have added glitter to the hat and blankie and will enter this into the Addicted to Clean and Simple Challenge #18 Glitter.

Octopode Factory Challenge - Halloween in July

Wow, it's still sunny and hot! Something we are definitely not used to in Scotland!! Lots of red lobster like people walking about the town today - I'm peeling so quite so red now! hahaha

Its been a great week for me, my favourite band played an acoustic set in Glasgow last night and my sister, best friend and myself all went along. They played an astounding set and like proper groupies, we hung about afterwards for autographs! I've been a fan of Terrorvision for nearly 20 years and finally got a photo with the lead singer last night - my inner 14year old was jumping for joy, she had to be shut up with an ice cream at mcdonalds afterward! Just for the sheer heck of it - here's the photo!

Me grinning like a loony with Tony Wright of Terrorvision!
Anyway, onto the real reason for today's post - its Halloween in July over at the Octopode Factory and I'm jumping in at the last minute with this card using Lily's Sally image from the Nightmare Before Christmas. The patterned papers are free from Pixel Scrappers - they should be red but there was a problem with my printer ink so they came out orange - perfect for this card! I've matter and layered with orange and black pearlescent papers, added a hand written sentiment, seam binding ribbon and black sticky pearls.

The image is coloured with promarkers and available at the Octopode Factory Etsy shop.

I'm entering into the following challenges -

The Octopode Factory - Halloween in July
Haunted Design House - Freaker's Free For All
Crafting by Designs - Anything Goes
Crafts and Me Challenge - Anything Goes
Tuesday Throwdown - Anything Goes
Craft-Dee Bows - Anything Goes with a bow!

Another Christmas Card!

I've decided that I will get a head start on my Christmas Cards for this year and figured a good way to do that is to gleam inspiration from the miriad of sketch challenges out there in blog land!

This next card is based on a sketch from Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #100!

I have used Craftwork Cards Christmas Papers, sentiment and die cut flowers to make this card. The flowers have been shaped and layered to give dimension with rolled rose centres.

I added some Gold Stickles to the flowers for a bit of bling and Fired Brick Distress Ink round the edges of the papers.

As well as entering the Saturday Sketchbook, I'm also entering the following challenges with this card -
Simply Create Too - Christmas in July
Paper Crafting Journey - Christmas in July
My Craft Creations - Anything Goes
Eclectic Ellapu - Flowers

Hey everyone! This is your halfway reminder for this month's PunkyouGirl Challenge!

We are doing 'Creepmas' in July and are sponsored by the fabulous Octopode Factory and I have created a 'Creepmas Card' using Lily's 'Sugar Plum Fairy' image.

I have used a black and silver foiled snowflake paper from Craftwork Cards with banner and sentiment from them also. The Green card is a pearlescent finish card and the green striped paper is from Do Crafts Gorjuss Girls range. I've added lots of Midnight Black Stickles and black adhesive bling!

I decided to zombify the 'fairy' and coloured her with grey promarkers for the skin with a hint of green. Purple toned hair and green outfit - all using promarkers. Some star dust stickles on her crown to finish.

I am entering this card into the following challenges -
Haunted Design House - Freaker's Free for All

Saturated Canary - Patches the Fairy

Wow! This heat just wont let up and hubby informs me its to stick around for a bit longer!! Crazy to think that the bottle of factor 50 we are using has lasted the past 3 summers!! Looks like i'm going to need more!

Well onto today's card. This uses a digi stamp from Saturated Canary called Patches the Fairy which i've coloured with promarkers and Lavender Stickles!

I've used a selection of lilac papers from an old Hot Off The Press paper pack and made tattered flowers with my Tim Holtz die using the Bohemian papers from Craftwork Cards - the sentiment is also from them.

I've finished this with some mulberry paper flowers, lilac organza and lilac head pins - and more lavender glitter on the paper flowers.

This is my entry for the Saturated Canary Challenge #47 - Celebration.
Also I'll submit it to the My Craft Creations - Anything Goes challenge and the Crafty Ribbons Challenge - Anything Goes with Ribbon.

Well, I'm totally sunburned and completely over this weather! So, I thought i'd start some Christmas cards.... well it is July and December is only round the corner! lol

I've used a sketch from the Crafts Galore Facebook page Saturday challenge below and entered this into a few other Christmas in July type Challenges.

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge #19 Anything Goes

Oh wow what wonderful weather we've been having, my blog has been ignored for a few days while i've enjoyed the weather with the kids! Big trip to the beach planned for tomorrow, here's hoping the weather stays fine!

Anyway, here's to today's card. This is my very first DT post for the Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog. We are on Challenge #19 Anything Goes and I hope you'll pop over to the blog for more inspiration and show us what you've got!

Our sponsor for this challenge is the fabulous artist Rick St Dennis and I have had the privilege of working with his 'Can Can' dancer digi stamp. Very Moulin Rouge! I've coloured this with promarkers and spent a good bit of time fussy cutting her out!

I've gone with red and black with white accents, some fabulous damask paper and black glitter paper all with red mats. And i've added my favourite rolled roses with a black organza ribbon and red and crystal pins. I've also added some black crystal bling.

I'm entering my card into the My Craft Creations Anything Goes Challenge.

Thanks for looking, I hope you like what you see and that you'll come and join us at the Crafter's Cafe for this challenge!

Diamonds are a girl's best friend

Super quick post from me this evening for two reasons!
1 - my pc is dying!
2 - i'm almost late for a challenge!

The Movie Monthly Challenge #5 was a showdown between Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge.... hands down winner is Moulin Rouge for me.

I had a few ideas for this but Nicole Kidman sings 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend' while hanging from a trapeze at one point in the movie and I had been thinking about playing cards and lace and diamonds and can can dancers.... in the end I've thrown this together and kinda hoping for the best!

This is a 6x6" square card with red and black pearlescent papers, diamond paper from Pixel Scrappers and a cheap pack of playing cards. Lace and glitter detailing for the mannequin with lots of star dust stickles, some 'diamonds' and an organza ribbon to finish. The sentiment was printed out from the pc.

Thanks for popping in for a look!

Simply Betty Stamps June Facebook Challenge!

I have fallen in love with Simply Betty Stamps!
You might remember the posts I had last week with lots of cards for their month long challenges in June - well, my wall hanging using the Emo Lola image was a winner and i'll trying to decide which digis to buy with my $10 gift certificate!

Now onto today's challenge! As a Facebook fan, we had the privilege of getting 'Summer' the fairy digi stamp to work with for this challenge. The brief being to not use designer papers but to create our own backgrounds for the digi.

I have used watercolour paper and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists in Purple and Black Cherry to create a coloured background, i've ripped and torn my paper and ran one of the layers through the Cuttlebug swirly embossing folder for a bit of texture. I've added some matching ribbons and paper flowers.

I coloured my image using promarkers and added lavender, platinum and star dust stickle accents. Some platinum liquid pearls around the edges finish off my card.

I've not put a sentiment on there so I can use it next time I need a quick card for something and match the sentiment at the time!

My Gran is 90!!!

Am a week or so late with this post but wanted my gran to get her card and gift before posting about it.
She lives in California and has just turned 90 this last week and looks fab for it! Here she is with my 3 aunts: Deirdre on the left (who no doubt will be the first to see this blog post!!!), my Gran, Caroline and Moira.

Here is the card that I made - its an 8x8" square card covered with Tea Dance kit papers from Craftwork Cards. I've usedsome of the die cut flowers from the kit and made more using the Tim Holtz tattered florals die and layered them to embellish the card. I've also used a tag from the kit with Vintage Photo distress ink.

I've added a doily behind the tag and used ZVA Creations self adhesive pearls as well as pearl beads on a string around the edges. I've added wide white lace too.

Platinum stickles and liquid pearls are my favourite finishing touches at the moment and have been added to the edges and the flowers.

Some more of the papers have been used to embellish the inside and the envelope!
I'm so glad she liked this.

I'm entering this into the My Craft Creations Challenge - Special Occasions.

Craftwork Cards Candi Flowers

Hi folks, quick post from me today!
I got a message last week from the lovely Marie Chillmaid who is a member of the Craftwork Cards Design Team wondering if I had any cards with candi flowers that she hadn't shown before.... of course I said yes!
I then set about making them!!!

Here is her post on the Craftwork Cards blog which shows them off!

The first two use Happy Day's goodybox with papers, candi and bows from the limited edition paper bows pack. I turned the candi 'inside out' for these flowers so that the gingham pattern is visible rather than the white back.

This third card uses the very decadent foiled papers and candi from the June goodybox. I've used some of the damask banners from the kit, a sentiment and a pink and black candi flower.

Entering the top card into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Anything Goes.

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog - Blog Hop

Well, have I got some super exciting news for you!!!
You have caught me here slap bang in the middle of a blog hop for The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog - this hop is to let you meet the members of their design team, old and NEW!!!! And by new.... that includes Me - Mo!!! There are prizes to be won on this hop - rules at the bottom of the post!!!

So here goes - this is the mini bio I submitted when I was asked to join the team - you can see my photo over on the left hand side of the blog!

"I am Maureen, I’m 32 years old, I’ve been married to Daniel for 13 years and we have 4 children.
I trained as a nurse a few years ago but was pregnant when I qualified and while I took some time to have a couple of babies, hubby is off at uni training to be a Social Worker. In the meantime, I’ve rediscovered my love of crafting!
I have always drawn things, I did Art and Design at school and after getting married and having my son I discovered card making thanks to a friend and QVC!
That was 12 years ago! I didn’t do much while I studied from 2006-2009 and then having the babies I didn’t really do anything until about a year ago and now my addiction is greater than ever!
I’m widening my repertoire, developing new techniques, making things other than cards! I’ve recently joined some crafty groups on facebook, can be found on pinterest, and have my own blog. I’m on the Design Team for Tsunami Rose Designs and this has taken me out of my comfort zone – lots of vintage designs, distressing and lace and florals – all a bit different but pushing me to be better.
I also design for the new dark themed challenge blog PunkyouGirl and I’m loving working with digi stamps, developing my colouring skills and thinking outside the box!
I am really looking forward to working with the fabulous team at the Crafter’s Café Challenge Blog and cant wait to get started!
I’m into rock/metal, Eddie Izzard and crime dramas and I love to cook! I think that about sums me up but if there’s anything you want to know – just ask!"

I have been asked as a new member of the DT to showcase some of my work for you - you can see a lot of this on previous blog posts if you want a look but here's a just a taster of what I have been doing recently.
This is my first submission in a Dilly Beans challenge - and I came in first place! So excited and it was only a few weeks back on the blog!

This was my creation for the Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop earlier this month - I am loving wall hangings just now and have made quite a few in different styles recently.

One of my favourite artists is Suzanne Woolcott from Glasgow - she is the creator of the stunning Gorjuss Girls and I love being able to use the images on my creations - here's another wall hanging.

This is an ATC that I created last month for a swap that i'm involved in - I've used printable ephemera from Tsunami Rose Designs whose DT i'm also proud to be on.

Well, that's probably enough about me, you can find out more by reading back on my blog and having a nosy! Like I said, we're right in the middle of a blog hop, you should have come to me from Zoe and the next stop on the hop is Carol (Cass). If you have jumped in randomly here, why not pop over to the starting line at The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog and meet the rest of the teams!

There are prizes to be won!!! Leave a comment on each of the blogs on the hop and then leave a message on this post to let us know you've done it and you'll be in with a chance to win prizes from our sponsors who are -

My Heart Pieces
Lacy Sunshine
Shelly's Images
2011bannerrscolor
 and Creative Bug

Thanks so much for joining me! Now hop on over to Carol (Cass)!
