Tea Dance Candles and a Card

Just a quick post from me this gloriously sunny evening!
It was my aunt's birthday a few days ago and she too is a cardmaker so I figured something crafty would be a great present for her and maybe get pride of place in her craft room!

For both the card and the present i've used the new Tea Dance collection from Craftwork Cards. The kit includes papers, sentiments, bunting, flowers and banners/borders and free mannequins! I love it and i'm sure you'll be seeing more from me using this kit!

For the card, i've covered the base in the polka dot paper and fussy cut a doily from another sheet and adhered using 3D foam. The doily has this gorgeous flower image in there which I've added some star dust Stickles and White Opal Liquid Pearls. A sentiment and some of my fabby poundland bling finish the card!
For her gift, I have decorated some pillar candles using the kit. I wrapped some paper around the candle and added ribbon and beading to them with the hot glue gun. I then cut some flowers using my Tim Holtz tattered floral die and layered them with some of the die cut flowers from the kit for both candles. The large flower being the main embellishment for the first candle and a decorated mannquin with flowers on the second one.

The wraps will come off if need be and can be put on another candle, but i'm assured these will go in my aunt's craft room to be admired!
Hope you like them too! thanks for popping in,

'You're SEW Special...'

Well, I am on a roll with the Tsunami Rose Designs printable papers! I am totally out of my comfort zone.... scrap that - i am changing my comfort zone!!! I got a pile of lace ribbons in the post today and i will be ordering more tomorrow when i've got a few more pennies in the bank! I'm also loving the little flowers i've been using recently - I bought loads of these about 10 years ago when I started card making and haven't used them on anything since then - there are times when I'm glad I hoard!

I also found this fabulous set that my sister-in-law-to-be gave me for Christmas 2011... It had sat on my bookshelf feeling unloved but when i found it today I just know I'll be using the elements soon!! There are fabulous flowers and tags and twine and glassine envelopes and bling!!!

Well, the paper i'm using today is the Tsunami Rose Designs 'Vintage Clothes Pin' in Sepia which you can find in her online shop here! As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of clothes and ribbon and I dug out a kraft dress form, dressed her in lace and added a flower. The card blank is a Craftwork Cards Bobbin card - these are on clearance just now on their website!

I stamped some needles and thread on the background with my Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad and also stamped bobbins and a measuring tape on kraft card which i cut out. The purple colour is a Pro-Marker in Maroon and the measuring tape and dress form have some Dusty Concord Distress Ink on them too.

I wrapped some gold stretchy cord around the bobbins and to make a 'waist' on the dress form and attached everything with 3D foam. A length of my new purple lace was attached along the bottom of the card with Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue.

Hope you like!!
I'll be back at the weekend with my sons 3rd birthday card! He picked the robot for it!

A double easel! First attempt!

Some of you might have noticed my white blank double easel card on the table in this week's WOYWW... well, last night i decorated it! I was inspired by a post on the Craftwork Cards blog showing a bobbin shaped board book done up with a sewing theme.

I dug out my Shabby Vintage Goody Bag from Craftwork Cards and a set of clear stamps that came with a Cardmaking and Papercraft issue a few months back and my trusty black StazOn.

I stamped some of the images onto the background papers - both plain and patterned - and then stamped the bobbin, scissors and tape measure onto kraft card, these were cut out and adhered with foam pads.

The mannequin was also from the Shabby Vintage goody bag, coloured with Worn Lipstick distress ink with a bit of gold perfect pearls for a sheen - that you cant quite see!

Burgandy organza and a feather finish the first panel along with a smattering of Rock Candy distress Stickles.

The second panel has a CWC birthday message and gold frame tinted with the Worn Lipstick to match and faux black stitching around the card.

Matching papers and ribbon decorate the inside and the panels are held up with card Candi.

This is my first attempt at a double easel and i pretty much just went with it and didnt look at measurements or templates. I think next time i will plan my folds more carefully - i think even pushing the candi back abit so the panels stand prouder might help too.

Overall, i'm happy with the design, hope you like it too!
