November Challenge at PunkyouGirl - POE!

New month, new challenge at PunkyouGirl. This month we are sponsored by Ike's Art and the theme is Anything Poes! That is - we want you to create something with an Edgar Allan Poe theme or Dark Themed Anything Goes. Remembering that PYG is a dark crafting blog so we hope you will stick to that - nothing cutesy!
I have used the image 'Poe Raven' printed him quite large and fussy cut. I have also used the freebie Poe Paper from Ike's Art and coloured it with Distress Stain in Fired Brick - adding some splodges too. The wording is from the Quoth the Raven rubber set at Smeared Ink].

31 DOH Day #17 A Poe Altered Coaster with Smeared Ink

Welcome to Day #17 of 31 Days of Halloween! I hope you are enjoying the festivities! Thank you for all the wonderful comments! You can find the blog roll in my side bar. Your first stop on the hop is Terra, you should have come to me from Lyneen, and your next stop is Rebecca. Remember to comment on all the blogs on the hop for a chance to win at the end of the month and keep in mind the Scavenger Hunt for daily prizes!

Today is the 3rd of 5 Smeared Ink Friday's during this Halloween Hop! We have been challenged to use Smeared Ink stamps on each of the Friday's and so far I have done just that. Today I have used the 'Quoth The Raven' rubber set which I won last year I think during the Creepmas hop. I was looking for some tags in my stash and found a pack of chipboard 'Coasters/BeerMats' and figured, that will do! They look to be about 4x4" and a good thickness. I covered both sides in papers from MME Lost&Found Halloween pad. On the front I stamped the 'Quoth The Raven', 'Nevermore' and book quote stamps in black Archival ink and heat embossed with a black detail powder. I've then edged the mat in Black Soot DI.
The Raven on the front and collage stamp on the back were stamped onto white card. The raven is coloured using distress ink pads and glued into place. The collage was heat embossed and then the whiteness removed by covering in Vintage Photo DI. I rounded the corners before gluing onto the coaster edging this side in Vintage Photo and Black Soot. As a finishing touch, I used Triple Thick glaze applied with a brush round the edges of the coaster and dipped this into Black Soot Distress Glitter for sparkle!

'Raven' Mad with Poe

I have joined the 'Halloween' club at Create with TLC and am getting the most fabulous emails everyday this week with awesome October/Halloween images and sentiments and loving it! When I saw this one, I knew I had to use it right away! So, I popped over to the Quoth the Raven, Nevermore Challenge blog, got a look at their Tic, Tac, Poe board and made a card for their challenge.

I have used the middle horizontal line - black, Poe, Raven - and the middle vertical line - Ribbon, Poe, Flowers. I used the sentiment from Create with TLC and printed onto an orange DP from the Oct 31st pad from Fancy Pants designs. I then used stamps from the Smeared Ink 'Quoth the Raven' set to stamp a background on another paper from that pack and then the large Poe image on the same orange paper.
The rolled roses and spiderweb border were cut on the Cameo, the pumpkin is a Spellbinders die and the lacey ribbon is from my stash. It has been great making a card just for a challenge - it doesn't happen often!

I will also enter this card in the following challenges -
Quoth the Raven - #36 Tic, Tac, Poe
7 Kids College Fund - AG with twist Dies
The Male Room - Autumn/Fall
The Artistic Stamper - September Autumn Colours

Favourite Books at Left of Center

It's midway reminder time at Left of Center! Our current challenge is 'Favourite Books' and is sponsored by Delicious Doodles! I have used 'The Raven' to create this wall hanging and I have used items from the 'Tic-Tac-Poe' board over at Quoth The Raven, Nevermore, so I will be entering this in their current challenge.
I printed the image and inked up a large acrylic block with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, spritzed the ink with water and pressed this directly on top of the image to give a mottled coloured background - the edges are inked with black soot. The 6x6 chipboard was painted with Tim Holtz Bronze Distress Paint, stamped round the edges with black archival ink and a TH stamp and then a bouquet of flowers added. The whole thing was then sprayed with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls mixed with water to give a pearly sheen (not that you would notice in this light!)

There are pins in the bouquet (Metal?!), paint and ribbon to hang the project - top line of the board. Or, it is 3D and has flowers along with the ribbon is a diagonal!
As well as joining in at QTR, I will be entering this at the current Delicious Doodles Challenge - Black plus one other colour - brown(s)!
